Life Events
We conduct regular thanksgivings, baptisms (christenings), weddings and funerals at Christ Church Alsager. Please read the relevant section below and then get in touch. We would love to hear from you. We also have a churchyard for burials and hold an annual thanksgiving and memorial service to remember loved ones.
Thanksgivings and Baptisms (Christenings)
Many people wish to give thanks to God for their children, but do not want to make promises regarding their faith for themselves or for their children. Sometimes they do not feel comfortable making baptism promises about their faith themselves or sometimes they would rather their children were free to decide once older. We offer a special service of thanksgiving for these families on particular Sundays each year as part of our regular Sunday worship.
As part of the Church of England, we also baptise people of all ages at Christ Church. We do this in the same services as for thanksgivings, so as to welcome those being baptised into the family of the church. For young children, parents and godparents make promises on behalf of those being baptised as well as for themselves. Those who are older make promises for themselves.
We meet with all those interested in thanksgivings and baptisms. Please contact the church office for more details. There is no fee for thanksgivings or baptisms.

Weddings
We love celebrating weddings here at Christ Church!
Over a quarter of all weddings in the country take place in the Church of England. Church is a great place to start your marriage! We have a traditional church building here dating back to 1790 as a splendid location for your wedding service and we would be delighted to help you plan a very special occasion.
There are a few legal limitations on who can marry in which parish church - you can find out more about these by checking the official Church of England website or contact the church office.
If you are getting married elsewhere and need your banns read here, then please also contact the office. Most couples like coming to hear their banns read and we would love to welcome you by arranging dates of announcements with you.

At a time of loss, funerals are an opportunity for friends and family to express their grief and to give thanks for a life. At Christ Church, we seek to give you appropriate space to do this in a way that is personal for you, within a Christian service. It is a time to give thanks but also to ask for God's help and blessing.
We can also offer a certain amount of pastoral care for those who want and need it at times of bereavement.
If you would like to arrange a funeral here, particularly if you live in Alsager or have connections with the church, then please ask your funeral director to contact us, or you can contact us yourself.

The Churchyard
Christ Church churchyard is currently the only burial ground in Alsager. We do our best to maintain it, with paid and voluntary help, for the benefit of all who remember loved ones here. As there is little space left, we provide new graves only for people from the town. For all enquiries regarding the churchyard, including searches and fees, please contact Debbie Preston our Administrator in the church office.
Thanksgiving and Memorial Service
6pm each Remembrance Sunday.
We hold an annual thanksgiving and memorial service for all those who would like to remember a loved one who has died. This could be someone you have lost recently or many years ago. It is a simple service including an opportunity to light a candle in their memory and to pray - giving thanks to God for their life. You do not need to be "Church of England" or a "regular churchgoer" to come. Anyone is welcome.
